Our beautiful fall continued. It’s been the longest, most beautiful fall that I can remember in a long time. The weather continued to be nice enough that the puppies and I could walk at Headwaters. Copper and I were lucky enough one morning to see a mom and baby moose. Moose frequent the area but I had yet to see them, so it made my day.
Afton, Sidney and Landon come to visit for Grandma Linda and
Sean’s birthday. Unfortunately, winter decided to visit for the last 3 days
they were here, but we tried not to let the cold keep us down. Sean and Mikayla
got to skip school so they could enjoy time with their cousins. Fishing,
exploring, cooking, chess games and loving on puppies kept everyone entertained.
We had a beautiful winter hike to Palisade Falls up Hyalite Canyon. It was picturesque
and a great day, until we got back to the car and I realized my phone wasn’t in
my pocket. Ethan, Afton and I retraced steps, but the black phone blended in
well with the black snow-covered rocks.
We celebrated Linda and Sean’s birthdays. Sean turned 10, double digits! Sean wanted a Minecraft
theme this year. Sidney and Mikayla helped decorate while I made the cake. He
got Lego sets and money to go toward his saving for another pet lizard.
October wouldn't be complete without the fun of Halloween. Even with the pandemic things ended up being fairly normal. Sean dressed up as a Minecraft skeleton and Mikayla as a Greek goddess. We trick-o-treated on Main Street Friday and then Ethan took the kids around Halloween night while I worked at Stageline. Halloween costume time is where I really see how much the kids have grown.
This is a big election year. There is a lot of division with our country and the pandemic only made it worse. Ethan, mom and I all made sure to vote. I have always had a disdain for politics but I understand the importance of having a vote count. I fear for the future but try to find peace in faith.
