Odds & Ends

It's been a busy 3 months for all of us. A lot of visits with friends and family, celebrations and fun.
Sean competed at his school field day. It was a cold and rainy day but the kids had a good time.
Jon and Michelle are getting ready to move to Oregon, and they are trying to minimize the amount of stuff they have to move. Jon brought the kids his big bin of legos from when he was a kid. Mom and the kids have spent days sorting legos and building fun stuff. The kids have also earned a few new sets and enjoy building them.

Backyard selfies, water fights and swing set time.

Sean's spring concert was a lot of fun. The first grade classes did a country themed song with dancing and all.

Since house cleaning is never fun the kids turned it into a game. Flooring cleaning while washrag skate racing.

We have visited Grandma and Grandpa Jung, where we always find ways to learn something new and entertain everyone.

For Jon's Youtube channel he bought a $70 projector to review. He decided to bring it out to the house so we could do an outdoor movie night. The mosquitoes were horrible and it got a little chilly but it was awesome.

Grandma Linda took Sean to get a haircut. He wanted a mohawk but I told him no way. He ended up with what is called a "brohawk" and despite the look on his face he loved it.
Mikayla and I attended Finn and Ewan's birthday. No matter how much time passes between these two they are forever friends and love when they get to spend time together.

To bring some routine to the kids schedule this summer we started a chore chart. One of Sean's chores is to collect eggs. I guess rain boots and underwear as as good as any clothing to wear while collecting eggs!?!?!
He didn't want me to take his picture so he was trying to run away.

Mikayla's sense of style needs some work as well, however, as a very "unfashionable" person myself this is just one area I don't like to fight with her on. Her matching of color is good but mix and match of patterns maybe the area to concentrate on.

Now this is fashion I can get behind. Brownie batter face, or cake batter face, or ice cream bar face. Not sure which but doesn't matter either way.

She loves her can and was mad when I said she maybe getting to big for it.

We received some interesting news in May. Mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. It's very early stages and as her doctor told her she will be cured and probably live another 20 years. She wasn't excited about living to be 91 but I reminded her that there is still a lot of baseball to watch and grandkids to see grow up. She had a lumpectomy and the surgery went well. She has had her 1st round out of 4 rounds of chemotherapy. She will lose her hair within 21 days so we were trying to find new hair options for her. There are a lot of bridges to cross but she is in good spirits.
Mom really wanted a garden this year. Ethan and I have been so busy on the inside of the house we haven't been able to really concentrate on the outside. I was able to find an easy raised bed system at Home Depot and set mom up with a small garden. We have already harvested tomatoes, peas, radishes and zucchini. Sean insisted on planting water melon and I really hope we get at least one. We also have carrots and cucumbers.

Mikayla had a filling fall out of a tooth so we went to the dentist to have it looked at. If it wasn't a dentist office you would think she was on a beach in Hawaii.
Finn came for a play date and when Rachel picked him up her and Ewan got to meet Max. Ewan loved him.
At the start of the summer the kids participated in a 3 day basketball camp at school. Mikayla was overwhelmed by all the kids and wouldn't really participate well. Sean isn't into basketball and it showed but he at least went through the motions. They received free basketballs and have enjoyed practicing dribbling at home so maybe they will give it a try in the future.
