Basement Progress

We have been moving forward on the basement project. The next big step in the project had a time crunch and was a lot of work to take on. Of the 4th of July we switched out the main electrical breaker and removed the furnace and heat ducting. We are switching the heat from forced air to radiant heat and moving all of the all of the mechanical and electric from a corner in the basement to a space that will be designated as a mechanical room. We also had to tie in the new plumbing for the basement bathrooms, which means we had to cut and pour concrete.
Cutting the concrete was a not a fun task and when we finished Ethan said never again will he cut concrete. I reminded him we have a few other projects in the future that may involve cutting concrete so we shall see.

The basement project has become a family affair and the kids help sometimes. It's usually only for a few minutes before they head over to Grandma's "cabin" and spend the day hanging out with her.

Concrete bites and shorts are no place for construction site. As I was hauling the chunks of concrete out I had placed some to the side to carry out later, I turned and my leg caught a sharp edge. A trip to urgent care and a little glue and I was good to go.
 The pile of concrete.
Ron was a big help as we worked to complete the electrical and plumbing.
No better way to end to a hard day's work than a dance with a pretty girl.
