Odds and Ends

Sean went to visit Grandma and Grandpa Jung this weekend.  I'm not sure who enjoys the visit more him or or Grandma.  He was only supposed to stay one night but managed to convince them to let him stay another night.

Mikayla entertained Ethan and I with her newly developed dancing skills.  Her newest one is twirling, time to buy some poofy dresses.

I ran another 5K this weekend the "Stache & Dash".  It was a trail run and the hills proved harder than I would thought, so no improvement on my time.  I forgot to take a picture to commemorate this one.

Hair Dos and Dont's

Sean needed a haircut very badly so we took him to his favorite stylist.  Every time he gets his hair cut he looks so grown up.  He was such a good boy he got a sucker, which mad him very happy.
Mikayla's hair on the other hand just tends to be unruly!  She slept really hard this night and this is what her hair looked like when she woke up.

Happy Father's Day

I packed our first weekend back with many events and so Ethan was short changed a little on Father's Day pampering.

Indiana and I ran the Thrive 5K for Father's Day.  Coming off vacation and running a 5k was probably not the smartest thing but I did manage to take a little off my mile pace.
We celebrated Finn's 1st birthday.  Sean helped open presents and Mikayla enjoyed seeing her buddy Finn.  In the week we were gone he started walking!
Ron and Linda came over with their new puppy Sammy.  We grilled ribs and enjoyed visiting.  Mikayla enjoyed chasing Sammy and loved to hold him and snuggle.  They wore each other out by the end of the night.
Mikayla enjoyed showing off her new trick of turning a somersault.  She really just puts her head down and then falls to the side but she is trying very hard to get it right.
Sunday we went to Mike and Lisa's to visit.  Mikayla was very interested in baby Gwen and as soon as we walked in the door she wanted to hold her.  It was great food and company thank you Mike and Lisa!
I spent time picking up all the toys and got them back where they belong.  Within 15 minutes she had everything out again.  When I confronted her about picking up the toys this is the face I got.

The Trip Home

Thursday we traveled from Casper to Billings.  We stopped at Kyle’s, hopefully we haven’t worn out our welcome, to stretch our legs before making the final trip home.  While we were in Denver Ethan came to Billings to help Kyle finish his deck.  Sean and Mikayla thought it looked pretty good.   We did some shopping at the mall and they had a play area that let the kids get out the last of their steam before making the final trip home, both of the slept almost the whole way.   It was a great trip and I am so thankful for wonderful family that open their doors to us.

Thank you Uncle Jeff!!  You were a great host.

Aquarium

Wednesday morning we went to the aquarium.  Mikayla and Sean loved the fish.  I tried to capture Mikayla’s excitement on video but she didn’t cooperate when I had it going.  She ran around from tank to tank pointing and looking, it was very cute.  After the aquarium we packed up the car and headed back to Casper, WY.

We were trying to get them to sit nicely for a picuture.  This is the best we could do.

I got to pet a sting ray!

Dinosaur Ridge

Tuesday we went to Dinosaur Ridge.  An area where you can see Dinosaur footprints and touch the dinosaur bones still in the rock.  I thought this would be something that Sean would enjoy but it was actually pretty cool and I enjoyed it as well.  The “science geek” surfaced I guess.
Panning for fossils.

Sean's favorite Dinosaur

Of course they find the puddle of water to play in.

Our guide TJ was a palentology major, Sean and him really hit it off.

We bought a new book about dinosaurs.  We decided to do some reading while we rested.

This was the only day that Sean got a nap that wasn't in the car.  Based on the hairdo I think he needed it!

Denver Zoo

Monday we went to the zoo.  It was my birthday and I enjoyed spending it watching my kids experience something new.  We had to make Sean slow down a little and take in everything but he was very excited and it was hard to keep him back.  We took in a bird show which Mikayla and Sean absolutely loved!  We ran out of time and didn’t get to see the lizards and fish but those were the only items we missed.  I promised Sean we would come back another day and make sure to see the lizards and fish.  It will probably be a while because I don’t want to wear out our welcome at Uncle Jeff’s.
The new sit stand stoller, it worked like a charm!

Mom taking time to find the "teachable" moments in the trip.  I love this about her.

We stopped for some ice cream

 My favorite animal

She lasted all day and konked out right when we were getting ready to leave.
Sean wanted to see a crocodile but the zoo didn't have any.  On the way out we found one, Sean wasn't too impressed.

Mom and Jeff had tickets to the ballgame Rockies vs. Braves this time.  Mom’s 3 favorite teams are the Dodgers, Rockies and Braves we chose to go this weekend because the Dodgers played and then the Braves right after.  The weather was more cooperative this night.  The kids and I hung out at the house.  We went and got cupcakes to celebrate my birthday and Sean sang Happy Birthday to me.  It was a great day!
