Vegas baby!!! Linda, Ron, Ethan, I and the kids headed to Las Vegas for the holiday. We met Afton, Josh, Landen and Sidney there and enjoyed some attractions and time together.
The night before we left we got a huge snow storm. It was a beautiful storm and the airport had such a great view.
We got there in plenty of time so the kids spent time running around and getting rid of all their energy before we boarded.
This was Mikayla's first airplane ride. She slept all the where there and all the way when we came home.
After we checked into our hotel the first stop was M&M world. Sean made his own bag of M&Ms.
We stopped at the Coke store and took a tour of Coke around the world. It was samples of Coke products from all areas of the world. I would have to say most of these must be an acquired taste.
A little relax time waiting for the Kehl family to arrive.
This was the only "turkey" we got on Thanksgiving. A turkey cupcake from Carlo's Bakery.
It didn't last long.
We watched them complete a maintenance test on the Bellagio fountains. Sean thought they were pretty cool.
Mother/Daughter selfie at the fountains.
On the way back we got stuck in an elevator. Thank goodness they got us out in a timely manner. It was so hot and there were 6 adults and 6 kids and I'm not sure how much more patience the kids would have had. Mikayla just slept through it all.
Finally cousin's Landen and Sidney arrived. Sean was very excited to see them.
First stop after lunch was the Titanic exhibit at the Luxor. The kids did not find it very interesting but Ethan, Ron and I really enjoyed it. The did have a room that had a big chunk of ice shaped like an iceberg. The kids did like feeling the cold ice and playing on it. The exhibit walked you through what the ship would have been like (2nd class cabin, 1st class cabin, the deck) then it walked you through the events of the night is hit the iceberg. There were many salvaged items from the ship on display and even stories about who they belonged too. I think it would be so cool to be the historian that pieced all of those items and stories together. At the beginning of the exhibit they gave each person a "ticket" with a real passengers information and story. At the end you got to see whether or not you survived.
Vegas is a beautiful site at night. The lights and buildings are amazing.
Sean loved the volcano show at the mirage. We saw it twice and he thought it was pretty cool. He did have a mishap during the day when we visited and he got his head stuck in the railing. He stood on the bottom railing and stuck his head in between the top railing and the hand rail and his feet slipped. We heard this cry and he was stuck hanging by his ears. The next time we went there he would say I promise I won't stick my head in the rail. I promise I won't stick my head in the rail. I guess he learned his lesson! His ear was really bruised and purple a few days later.
They loved Shark Reef Aquarium. Sean loved it as he really enjoys animals. He didn't want to pet the sting rays, Mikayla really wanted to but wasn't quite tall enough to reach.
Cousins!
We ate at Bubba Gump Shrimp. While we were waiting for a table we tried to capture a moment but trying to get a good picture with 4 kids in near impossible.
Sean tried shrimp for the first time and actually liked he. What he really like was the boat his meal came in. We had to bring it home.
Bellagio fountains at night. Mikayla was awake this time and she really enjoyed watching them.
Secret Garden Dolphin and Lion habitat. Sean was looking at the map to make sure we didn't miss anything.
Mikayla liked watching the dolphins do their tricks,
Vegas is tough and sure takes a lot out of you!
