Odd & Ends

Sean is still attends swim lessons and is getting very good at his back float.  He loves to jump in the pool and dive for things.  His kicking needs improvement but overall he still loves the water and has a great time.  We got him some new goggles since he kept getting water splashed on his face when kicking.  They don't fit well but he thinks they are pretty cool.

Mikayla is becoming her own little sports star.  She loves throwing and kicking her new soccer ball.  I think she is going to be our athlete.

Happy Mother's Day

For Mother's Day this year I decided that I wanted to do the Women's Run in Billings.  I decided to push myself and run the 5 mile race.  There were a record 8,700+ participants for the 2 and 5 miles races!!  My goal was to try and finish it in an hour but figured it would be more like 1 hour and 15 mins.  I didn't really do any training so thought an hour would be stretching it, however, I surprised myself and completed it in 58 minutes and ran almost the first 2 miles before having to walk for a few minutes.  I was 145 out of 316 in my age group and 755 out of 2280 overall.  Not bad for someone who has never ran 5 miles before!

Red face to show all the hardwork.  I don't think my face has been this red since playing basketball in highschool.

Mom, the kids and I invaded Kyle's house again this weekend.  On Sunday he took mom to Miles City for their annual Mother's Day horse races.  The horse races are their tradition and I was glad they got to do it again this year.  The kids and I stayed behind and took a trip to Home Deport to gather information regarding upgrading some items in Kyle's house.  I love decorating and doing it while spending his money is a bonus.  By the time they got home I had everything planned out with some estimates for him.  Now we just need Ethan to start us on the actual work.
Sean was funny because all weekend he kept telling us he was in charge.  I told him it was mommy's weekend so mommy and grandma were in charge.  We were eating dinner one night and we began the back and forth of who is in charge.  He turns to me, looks me straight in the eye, cupped his hands around my chin and said "listen here missy, I am in charge"!  It was the funniest and cutest statement ever.  But no Sean I am still in charge.

Mikayla's 1 Year Stats

Weight: 20lbs 7oz (60%)
Height: 29.5 in (60%)
The doctor was impressed with her development since she is walking very well, saying a few words, and grasping items well.

After her appointment we stopped by MSU and visited some of my past colleagues.  It was great to see everyone and I can't believe it has been 2 years since I left. We also made a stop by the duck pond which Sean and Mikayla loved.  They were very curious about the ducks and really wanted to pet one.  The ducks however were not interested in playing with them.

Sean's Shenanigans and Mischievous Mikayla

I know I'm biased but we have two amazing kids and I love them more than I could ever imagine.  I wanted to share a few of their recent shenanigans.

Mikayla's new thing is waving bye bye.  She has this down pat.  She also can tell you when she is hungry as Grandma taught her to sign "hungry".  She loves shoes and thinks you should wear them all the time.  It is a fun game for her because Grandma Barb hates wearing shoes, if she could go barefoot all the time she would.  Mikayla spends the whole day bringing her shoes to put on, and if she doesn't put them on then she gets a little upset.  She will also bring you her shoes and coat and hat so you will take her outside.  When she has a messy diaper she will make sure you give her the wrapped up diaper and carry her outside to throw it in the garbage.  Again if you do not follow protocol and do what she wants then she lets you know she is upset.  She absolutely loves to climb on everything and will find a way to get on top of whatever she wants to.

With the nicer weather it means that we see less of Sean in the evenings.  He loves to play outside and he thinks any kid is his friend, whether he has meet them before or not.  If any kids are outside he has to be outside.  He got to spend the other day at Deb's house visiting.  He told me he wanted to go to Deb's and play with her dinosaurs and cat (yes he still has an obsession with dinosaurs).  He spent the whole day with her and didn't play with either.  He is starting to sing more often and enjoys the song Radioactive.  He also is learning nursery rhymes from an app on Grandma's Kindle.

Mikayla's 1st Birthday

We celebrated Mikayla's 1st birthday this weekend.  Grandma and Grandpa Jung, Grandma Barb, "Aunt" Lisa, "Uncle" Mike and new baby Gwendolyn Jones, Rachel, Matt and Finn White and Jon Goodwin were all there to celebrate.  Michelle had to work but was there in spirit.
Mikayla and Sean checking out baby Gwen.  We asked Sean if he wanted a baby brother or sister and he said nope I'm good.  Good thing we are too!
Mikayla opening her gifts.
TURTLE!!!
Happy Birthday song.  Mikayla wasn't sure what to think of all the attention.  Sean was very excited to help her blow out the candle.

Yum cake.
She was so special she got 2 cakes.
She was less dainty with the chocolate.
Obviously no table manners in our house.
Lisa enjoying her cake with the big frosting sun. I think she earned it after having Gwen only a week before!
Our cool little man getting ready for the party.

Visit to Papa Jim's

We have had a busy couple of weeks.  The weekend after Easter we headed to Hysham to visit the ranch.  Sean of course had a blast and Mikayla won over her Grandpa Jim's heart.
Going to Papa Jim's means...
finding a big tub to play in water with.
Riding horses with his good friend Larisah
Feeding, catching and playing with their pet duck.

Mikayla was even curious.
Mikayla had her first horse ride!
Sean and Mikayla sure enjoyed tormenting Larisah.
