Good-bye Old Friend

August started off on a very sad note, Ethan and I did one of the hardest things we have had to do in all our years together, we said good-bye to Indiana. We know we made the right decision and that he is once again living a great life doing all the things he loved, but it’s still hard. In a strange turn of events Ethan and I had been talking about getting another dog. We were so blessed with Indiana and wanted to get another dog similar to him. Friday, I happened to check the shelter website and there were 6 puppies, very similar to Indiana, up for adoption. We went to see them and ended up signing paperwork to bring one home the next day. That night Indiana all of a sudden couldn’t walk and appeared to be in pain. We took him to the vet the next morning and they confirmed the worst. As we said our good-byes to Indiana, a few short hours before we were supposed to pick up the puppy, we debated going through with it. We decided either we were crazy or it was God’s way of letting us know it was time for us to say good-bye. The kids were expecting the puppy so we decided to go ahead with it, believing it was fate. While there is no dog that will ever replace Indiana and he will forever have a special place in our hearts, this new little guy is helping us find joy in the sorrow.
