I decided to take a Wednesday off and take Mom and the kids to Yellowstone Park, Snooks joined us for the trip and I think we all had a good time but it was a long day. I thought it may help to go during the middle of the week and have less of a crowd but was I wrong! You think I would know better after living here for so long but the "rookie" mistakes will not be made again. After 4 hours in the car we finally made it to our first stop Old Faithful. We had a picnic lunch in the parking lot and then went to enjoy the view of the famous geyser.
Snooks and Sean walking up to check it out.
We enjoyed the shade.
I love these three so much and I enjoy getting to watch them experience so much together.
Old Faithful selfie.
Sean thought the eruption was pretty cool.
He decided it was sick and throwing up all over.
Mikayla was kind of impressed but more interested in eating.
Next stop was the Fishing Bridge.
A wrong turn took us 45 minutes away from our next stop but it was a lovely drive around Yellowstone Lake.
Next stop was Mud Volcano and Black Dragon Cauldron.
I wanted to be like the Goonies and go in this cave and find One Eyed Willy's Treasure.
Looking through the fence isn't good enough for this one, she wants to see over the top and has no fear of climbing.
Churning Caldron
Buffalo right along the path. Glad he was preoccupied with dinner.
As we were walking back to the car Sean saw the buffalo at the bottom of the picture by the road. He asked what is that buffalo doing?
Me: Relaxing
Sean: Taking a little nap. What do you think buffalo dream about?
Me: I don't know what do you think buffalo dream about?
Sean: hmmm, eating grass. or maybe a girlfriend. or maybe about being mean to people.
Next stop Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone
She always uses the binoculars the wrong way.
Final stop was Mammoth where we got to see a lot of Elk. Sean kept track of all the animals we saw. A bald eagle, fox, buffalo, swans, pelicans, chipmunks, squirrels, and maybe a moose. I know I missed a few but those were the main ones.
We stopped in Gardnier for dinner and then headed home. We got home about midnight so it was a long day but "the best day ever" in Sean's opinion, which is good because it started out at the "worst day ever".
